Overview:
The Assistant Kitchen Manager exists to aid in all baking, food and prep related items. They are responsible for the daily and weekly status of food items in and out of the kitchen. The kitchen manager is responsible for leading and communicating in a way that allows for accountability and collaboration with front of house. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have proven culinary and leadership experience. In addition to being an excellent leader, you should also demonstrate outstanding critical thinking and organizational abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory of cooking supplies and ingredients, ensuring stock aligns with demand.
- Ordering: Be the weekly point person for ordering all necessary supplies and communicate to manager needs when orders can’t be placed independently
- Training and Onboarding: Lead the onboarding and training of new team members, instructing on recipes, techniques, and equipment operation.
- Maintain Quality and Standards: Ensure all food items meet quality standards, following specified recipes, and implement quality control measures.
- Daily Operations Management: Supervise and care for the kitchen area; communicating with team regularly when changes happen or when certain things need to be addressed.
- Menu Development and Pricing: Initiative conversation with managers, kitchen staff and baking team members to create new products. New products must be decided as a GROUP
- Kitchen Cleanliness and Safety: Maintain a clean, organized baking area in compliance with health and safety regulations. Set the example to your team and hold each other accountable
Assistant Kitchen Manager will actively work with bakers, cook, and baristas; hybriding their time between the bar and the kitchen. This position is expected to work 30-35 hours per week with an average of 2 baking shifts and 2 food prep shifts per week. This is a hands-on position that requires initiative and self-sufficiency.
Space in the kitchen will be shared with bakers and food prep cooks. You will manage both teams and coordinate how they overlap in usage of space, scheduling of personnel, and responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership ability, capable of guiding and motivating a team towards quality and productivity.
- Organizational Prowess: Strong organizational skills, able to manage tasks and inventory efficiently.
- Communication and Training: Excellent communication skills, providing clear guidance and training to baking team members.
- Adaptability: Flexible availability, willing to work various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment, and stand for extended periods.
Compensation:
$20/hr + tips, eligible for health insurance contribution
